1. Aims & Statement of Intent

The aim of the Behaviour and Uniform Policy is to create a safe, respectful and inclusive learning environment that is reflective of the school’s values. This policy sets clear expectations for student behaviour, promoting responsibility, integrity and positive interactions. By upholding this policy, the school aims to cultivate a conducive atmosphere that intrinsically embeds the school’s values to all stake holders in the community.

2. Scope

The Behaviour and Uniform Policy applies to all students enrolled in the school, regardless of their age, grade level or background. This policy encompasses all areas within the school campus, including classrooms, hallways, canteen, playground, transportation, and any school-related events or activities, both on- and off- campus. Individual needs of children should be taken into consideration where appropriate, such as age, special educational needs or well-being concerns.

3. Processes and Practices

3.1 Respect for Self and Others:
  • Treat others with kindness, empathy, and respect, valuing diversity and cultural differences;
  • Refrain from any form of discrimination, harassment, bullying or intimidation, whether verbal, physical or online;
  • Respect personal space and property of others.
3.2. Attendance and Punctuality:
  • Attend school regularly and be punctual for all classes, activities and events;
  • Notify the school in advance in case of absence or tardiness, following the established procedures.
3.3 Academic Integrity:
  • Complete assignments and assessments set within school/at home honestly and on time.
3.4 Responsible Digital Citizenship:
  • Use technology responsibly and ethically;
  • Respect privacy and confidentiality by not sharing personal or sensitive information about oneself or others without permission;
  • Communicate online with respect, not engaging in cyberbullying, trolling or any behaviour that may harm others.
3.5 Safety and Security:
  • Comply with safety regulations and guidelines established by the school, ensuring the well-being of oneself and others;
  • Report any unsafe or potentially dangerous situations to the appropriate school staff members.
3.6 Conflict Resolution:
  • Resolve conflicts peacefully, seeking mediation or guidance from teachers or administrators when necessary. The children are encouraged to use the Kelso’s Choices to resolve conflicts. (See Appendix 1);
  • Engage in constructive dialogue and practise active listening to understand different perspectives and find mutually acceptable solutions.
3.7 Consequences:
  • Regular violation of this policy may result in appropriate consequences, which can include: verbal warnings, written reflections, parental involvement, loss privileges, suspension or expulsion, depending on the severity and recurrence of the behaviour.

4. Uniform

Early Years (Pre Kindy - Reception)
Children in Early Years can choose to wear either the regular school uniform or the PE uniform. Footwear should be comfortable.
KS1 (Years 1)
Children in Years 1 should wear:
  • Regular school uniform daily;
  • PE uniform only on days where PE is timetabled;
  • Black socks;
  • Plain black shoes/trainers;
  • School tudong (optional);
  • Miftah jacket if required. No other jackets or hoodies are permissible.
KS2 - KS3 (Years 2-8)
Children in Year 2 - 8 should wear:
  • Regular school uniform;
  • PE uniform only on days where PE is timetabled;
  • White socks;
  • Plain black shoes/trainers;
  • Tudong for girls are mandatory;
    Purple school tudong/hijab for girls in Year 2-6
    ○ Plain black tudong/ hijab for girls in Year 7
  • Miftah jacket if required - No other jackets or hoodies are permissible.

5. Responsibilities

The Board of Governors will:
  • Read and ratify this policy and ensure that the school complies with all relevant legislation;
  • Support the SLT in the dissemination and application of this policy.
The Executive Principal will:
  • Ensure that this policy is shared with all staff members;
  • Ensure that this policy is effectively implemented across the school;
  • Review this policy regularly and advise the Board on its effectiveness;
  • Support the Heads of Schools in the effective dissemination and application of this policy.
The Heads of School will:
  • Ensure this policy is understood and followed by all staff;
  • Provide continuous professional learning opportunities for staff to meet the aims and intents of this policy;
  • Ensure children understand the expectations laid out in this policy;
  • Ensure there is timely and effective communication with parents regarding any behaviour or uniform concerns.
Teachers will:
  • Read and understand this policy and apply fairly to all students;
  • Seek support when required regarding the application of this policy;
  • Provide opportunities for students to develop their understanding of the expectations set out in this policy.
Parents will:
  • Read and understand this policy;
  • Support the school in ensuring the children are aware and understand the expectations set out in this policy;
  • Inform the school of any appropriate contexts where a child’s behaviour or ability to follow this policy may be significantly impacted.
