About Puan Anita Abu Bakar:
Puan Anita Abu Bakar wasn't envisioning a future in mental health awareness when she spent her earlier days in the banking corporate field spanning period of over 10 years. Today, Anisa is the founder and President of Mental Illness Awareness & Support Association (MIASA), a Mental Health advocacy and peer support group based in Petaling Jaya. As Anita was born and raise overseas, she subsequently pursued her tertiary education in United States. Obtaining her Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Systems, Anisa pursued a career path as an investment banker upon her return to Malaysia. In addition to that, she also holds an MBA in Islamic Banking and Finance from International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM).
Being a peer herself, Anita is an advocate in promoting awareness on mental health. She has conducted various programmes and initiated much effort to educate the public on both the importance of Mental Health and addressing the many misconception and myths in hopes in reducing the society's stigma and inducing the availability of more support of those struggling with psychological symptoms. One of her programs under MIASA named Journey to Recovery and Kembara Syifa has aired in IKIM.FM. reaching out to those struggling with mental helath disorder and caregivers.
