Islamic school steers into new direction

Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Hafizah Sururul Bolkiah attended Miftah An-Nur Islamic International School’s Year End Concert and Graduation Ceremony 2021 at the main conference hall of the International Convention Centre yesterday.

Accompanying Her Royal Highness was Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Haji Muhammad Ruzaini bin Pengiran Dr Haji Mohd Yakub.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Doa led by Ade Al-Faisal followed by the recitation of Al-Quran verses by primary students.

Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Haji Muhammad Ruzaini in his capacity as Patron of Miftah An-Nur also announced the school’s future plans during his remarks.

He said the school hopes to become an Islamic International School offering programmes that will help its students be ready to go to top universities in the world.

Miftah An-Nur also has a new board of governors comprising individuals from diverse backgrounds to spearhead the school moving forward. The new executive principal will oversee the school’s direction.

Executive Principal Bilal Buttar, who will join Miftah An-Nur next January, will bring extensive international education leadership experience.

“We are confident that he will take Miftah An-Nur to a higher level in both its academic and Islamic values,” Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Haji Muhammad Ruzaini said.

The school will align itself with the British education curriculum while still prioritising Islamic teachings for its students. The new curriculum will take effect in September.

It was also announced that the school have began working on a new construction project which will see the erection of state-of-the-art primary and secondary blocks, along with a surau, swimming pool, a multipurpose hall and a library. The new compound, to be built on a five-acre land, is expected to be completed in 2023.

“We look forward to the new direction for Miftah An-Nur. We thank everyone for the prayers and support. We are proud to have students from around the world, including Canada, China and Indonesia.

“It is our hope that Miftah An-Nur can become a school of choice among the Muslim community in Brunei looking for high quality and holistic education promoting both academic and personal growth, guided by the teachings of Al-Quran and As-Sunnah,” the patron said.

The ceremony also saw stage performances by kindergarten and primary students. Miftah An Nur Principal Noorhaizamdin bin Haji Mohd Mosbi presented certificates.
